Last week was the second week that I have been able to stay in the welcoming warmth of the Academy Hotel on North Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs, CO.
As expected the staff gave me a warm greeting and my reservation was easily found by the front desk staff member. My room was ready on the third floor and the warm colors, cleanliness, pleasing d????cor of the room, and open design of the room all gave me a sigh of relief as I put my suitcase away, opened my computer and logged on to do some work.
Plenty of restaurants were to be found nearby on Academy Blvd. as well as shopping centers for any needs. It was easy to gain quick access to I-25 to reach appointments scheduled around town.
After my first night of restful sleep it was convenient to stroll down to the lobby to do some reading early in the morning in the sunken lounge area where I pulled up a chair next to the flames of their fireplace. Then, off to breakfast at the buffet style breakfast that is offered to all hotel guests. A lovely omelet made to my specifications was cooked by “Patrick,” the cook, who remembered me from my last stay at the hotel over a month earlier. There was sausage, ham, breakfast potatoes, cereals, fruits, orange juice, coffee, water with lemon slices, bread, biscuits and gravy, salsa, milk, hot cereal, etc. awaiting my pleasure. Each morning I enjoyed the same filling, hot, tasty breakfast. It was economical and convenient for me to save the cost and time of stopping somewhere else to be fed.
One afternoon, after driving back from some appointments far to the south near Cheyenne Blvd. I was able to meet a third appointment for a discussion at the hotel. We met in the sunken lounge area of the big lobby near the fireplace to have a quiet meeting. It was a great atmosphere and quite for my guest and I to talk about important issues and get to know each other. I felt it reflected well on my company to talk to a guest in the lobby of the Academy Hotel as it is a lovely atmosphere. It is good to have a home base when operating so far from my home in Orem, Utah.
For over 30-years I’ve been on the road mostly traveling around the western United States so I know a good value when I see it. Next time I’m in Colorado Springs you can bet you’ll find me staying at the Academy Hotel. Presently the region I cover includes fourteen states, so it is comforting to look forward to staying at the Academy Hotel as I do.
