5th Grade Students Decide on Design of New Street Sweeper

Unified Government’s Public Works Department partnered with Key Equipment to unveil their newest street sweeper to students and faculty at New Stanley Elementary School.   Jeff Miles, Vice President of Key Equipment, held a drawing contest with the 5th grade students to have them come with a “environmentally” themed design to place on the sweeper.

After narrowing the entries down to the top six, Mayor Mark Holland had a challenging decision to make because there were so many good drawings. The Mayor finally decided on the top two designs that were featured on the new street sweeper.

The UG paid $214,000 thousand for the sweeper and Key Equipment provided the design feature at no cost. Mayor Holland and Commissioner Angela Markley were on hand for the unveiling. The winning students will also be presented plaques from Key Equipment at a future Board of Commission meeting.

Thanks to the students at New Stanley for cool design!
