GLENDALE, Ariz. – Old Towne and Catlin Court will be transformed into a Christmas Village on Saturday, November 10 from Noon – 8 p.m. to celebrate the annual Holiday Open House in Historic Downtown Glendale. Enjoy festive fun for all ages including early bird shopping from 10 a.m. to noon. The Holiday Open House is the perfect opportunity to start your holiday shopping and receive complimentary gift wrapping at many of the locally-owned shops. Find delicious treats at the wide variety of restaurants and view the dazzling Christmas village-style holiday shop window displays throughout the area.

Historic Downtown Glendale is home to two distinct neighborhoods; the Catlin Court District, with welcoming front lawns and porches of the historic homes, turned shops and restaurants. In Old Towne, you will always find interesting things to see and do inside the historic buildings that house independent small businesses.

New to the event this year, follow the ‘Tree Trail ‘ featuring festive retro-themed trees in front of many of the shops and eateries and delight in a synchronized storefront lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. (sundown) to kick off the holiday season.

Activities include make and take crafts for all ages, holiday music and ornament-making for the Community Patriotic Tree. The Community Patriotic Tree honors military heroes with handmade, personalized ornaments. The tree will be lit nightly throughout the Glendale Glitters season.

Event attendees are encouraged to start their day at the Portable Information Booth fondly nicknamed ‘Mrs. PIB.’ The booth will be located at the corner of 58th Drive and W. Glenn Drive from noon to 5:30 p.m. Knowledgeable Downtown Docents will welcome visitors to the event and provide maps, event activity lists and downtown shopping and dining information. The booth features a bright green umbrella and picket fence décor.

Admission is free, some-make-and-take crafts have a nominal fee. There is plenty of free parking throughout the downtown. The Holiday Open House is presented by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association in partnership with the downtown business community.
