WILMINGTON, NC  – The Wilmington Police Department’s 2016 Professional Standards Report is completed and we would like to invite you to review our efforts for past year, concerning employee conduct and our disciplinary process. The report outlines our 2016 complaint history, use of force numbers and measures many other employee related interactions. Here are some of the highlights:

 

  • The number of internal investigations decreased by 40%
  • The number of citizen complaint allegations decreased by 61%
  • Policy violations by employees decreased by 38%
  • Calls for service increased by 3.6% (189,495 to 196,429)
  • The number of arrests increased by 5.3%, the number of use of force incidents decreased by 15%
