2015 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships Return to Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY- (April 6, 2015) The 2015 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships, hosted by Salt Lake Figure Skating, will take place April 14-18 in Salt Lake City.  The U.S. Adult Championships is one of three US Figure Skating Championships and have been held annually for 21 years. Competition begins Tuesday morning and concludes Sundayevening.   Nearly 400 adult figure skaters ranging in age from 21 to 75-years-old are headed to Salt Lake City to compete for U.S. titles.

Competitors at the U.S. Adult Championships are divided into five age groups (21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61+) and two tracks (masters and adults). Events are held in singles, pairs and ice dance.  Skaters qualify for the championship and championship gold events by placing in the top four at one of three sectional championships, which were held in March.

We are celebrating 21 years with more than 2000 visitors and 5,000 attending the events-a great opportunity for many to celebrate figure skating and enjoy the great state of Utah. Starting at $10, tickets are available at the Salt Lake Sports Complex. Competing this year are nine skaters who have skated in all 21 Adult Championships.  They hold a special place as they have celebrated, mentored and encouraged many young skaters with their love of this sport and lifetime commitment to figure skating.

This year's championship events will feature returning 2014 Adult Ladies Gold Champion, Amanda Blackwell, Michael Rubke, a four-time Masters Int-Nov Men’s champion and Jaclyn Yacomes, a Masters Jr-Sr. Ladies champion.

Local skaters who train here in Utah who have qualified for championships are Charlene Mills, Alexis Kruel and Claurissa Tuttle along with many others who will participate in various events during this competition.

This is not the first time this competition has been hosted by Salt Lake Figure Skating and partners Utah Sports Commission and Visit Salt Lake.  A long tradition of skating in Utah continues to bring the sport of figure skating in all its aspects to Salt Lake City each year with US and International competitors coming to skate on the best ice and facilities we have to offer.
