Providence, Utah ??ª?? The 1st annual The Spring Creek Festival will be held on April 19 and 20, 2013. The Friday night program will be the kick-off event at the Providence Elementary School honoring Providence Heroes and the winners of the Providence Heroes Essay Contest written by students from the local schools. Clive Romney will sing his song about Providence and get us all laughing and singing. The evening will be capped with square dancing for young and old alike. Kathleen Alder, president of the Providence Pioneer Heritage, Inc. states, ” April represents the beginning of the summer fun. Bring your family and friends and join us to celebrate the Spring Creek Festival, (Providence was once named Spring Creek) this area’s premier festival for all things fun.”
Saturday, everyone is invited to this free festival to see home-grown art and quilts, watch baseball (weather permitting), play some old fashioned pioneer games, tour historic homes, grab a Providence Hero sandwich, and visit the vendors for a chance to win a grand prize (winners must be present). Enter your award-winning pie in the pie tasting competition, or be adventurous and enter the one and only Sauerkraut Competition (make your best and most unique sauerkraut recipe). What recipe will win this year … the sauerkraut cake? You need to come and find out.
Spring Creek Festival will host the first-ever Cabbage Head 10k Trail Run on Saturday morning, April 20, 2013. Runners will be vying for the coveted Cabbage Head Trophy to display proudly in their trophy case. The trail run will kick off Saturday??ª?s festivities at the Old Rock Church in the historic center of Providence, Utah.
You have seen it on late night sports. Perhaps, even on the Wide World of Sports, but now, you can see it in person at the Spring Creek Festival ??ª?? arm wrestling! Open to all ages, young and old. Bring your friends, your cousins, your brothers and sisters and see who has the strongest arm. Prizes will be given to winners of the competitions throughout the festival.
Enjoy entertainment every 30 minutes from around Northern Utah on the outdoor stage at the Old Rock Church while relaxing with a cool drink under the towering pines. Alder also shares, “This festival is designed to bring all of us together to celebrate the great things about our community while we play games, eat fantastic food, and enjoy great entertainment. Please come join us to celebrate Providence!”
