On August 25, 2019 several residents in the Piper area of Kansas City Kansas received a scam call. The scammer identified as a male gave the name and title of Lt. Todd Sullivan with badge number 6747. He stated he was with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office and his caller id was (913) 982-9800. It is reported that he told the people that they had a warrant for not appearing for Jury Duty and they had to pay a total of five hundred dollars to keep from being criminally processed. He urged the people to buy gift cards from Walmart or Target in order to make the process faster.
The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office would like to inform all the citizens that this is not our process and that if anyone receives suspicious call regarding the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s office, please call 913-573-2861 and ask for Investigations.
We’re not alone… Just recently A police captain with the Apex Police Department in North Carolina took a scam call. The caller threatened her with arrest over bogus charges.
