Phoenix Sister Cities Youth Ambassadors Selected

City of PhoenixPhoenix Sister Cities selected 26 high school sophomores and juniors for its 2017 Youth Ambassador Exchange Program.  The annual program includes a six-week summer exchange to one of Phoenix’s ten Sister Cities. Youth Ambassadors will spend three weeks fully immersed in a foreign culture and will welcome their host brother or sister for three weeks when they return this summer.

Prior to departure, Phoenix Youth Ambassadors will participate in Academy Sessions where they will learn how to interact in their host country, what to expect and how to best represent the city of Phoenix, the state of Arizona, and the United States abroad. The program will provide participants a valuable experience in intercultural communication, leadership skills and citizen diplomacy.

Upon completion of the exchange program, the ambassadors participate in a series of alumni events as well as promotional and marketing activities for next year’s program. Being a part of the Youth Ambassador Exchange Program enables students to become a part of the global community while learning about different cultures, making friends from around the world and participating in life-changing experiences.

A list of student names, schools and destination countries is below.  Student photos available upon request.  Program coordinator Bethany Bennick and student ambassadors are available for interviews.
