NOPD Arrests Amite Man for Illegal Possession of a Weapon in the Eighth District.

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested an Amite man for illegally carrying a firearm in the Eighth District.

On Sunday, October 6, 2019 at about 12:28 a.m. Eighth District Promenade officers arrested Brandon Curry (B/M DOB: 02/10/1987) in the 400 Block of Bourbon Street. Curry was found to be in possession of a Glock Model 19, .9 millimeter semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine and 12 rounds of ammunition.

A record check revealed the firearm was reported stolen by the Amite Police Department.

Curry has a felony conviction in Tangipahoa Parish for aggravated assault with a firearm and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Curry had recently completed five years of probation related to the charge.

Curry was booked for illegal carrying of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm. He was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
