MAYOR BERRY ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICE BETWEEN SAN FRANCISCO AND THE SUNPORT

Daily Nonstop Service On Alaska Airlines Begins September 18th

ALASKA AIRLINES AND MAYOR BERRY ANNOUNCE SERVICE BETWEEN PORTLAND AND THE ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL SUNPORTALBUQUERQUE, N.M.Today, Mayor Richard J. Berry and Aviation Director Jim Hinde announced that Alaska Airlines will further expand service in Albuquerque this Fall with flights to San Francisco International Airport.  The daily nonstop flight will go on sale today and service begins September 18th.  News of the new service comes on the heels of the previous announcements by Alaska that they will begin serving Portland and Orange County in August.  Alaska has been providing service to Seattle since 2014.

“I am thrilled that Alaska Airlines continues to expand in our great city.” said Mayor Richard J. Berry.  “With today’s announcement, they will now serve four nonstop destinations from the Sunport. We look forward to a great partnership with them and hope they continue their positive growth here.”

Since 2009, the Sunport has added three new airlines with service to three new destinations and expanded options to five existing destinations, which ultimately led to positive passenger growth in 2016.

During this same period, the Sunport has remained fiscally responsible, maintained one of the highest bond ratings in the industry for an airport of its size and renovated the entire post-security area of the terminal.  Beginning this spring, a major renovation project to the pre-security portion of the terminal is scheduled to begin, with completion scheduled in 2018.
