FLAGSTAFF, AZ – At the Flagstaff City Council retreats in January 2017, the Council created new goals for the 2017-2019 calendar years. The goals ranged in categories from Economic Development, to Personnel, to Social Justice and Climate Change, these goals create the building blocks for this next Fiscal Year’s Operating Budget, which relate to the levels of service to the community and to program outcomes.
The City Council confirmed the goals after much thought to formulate a positive community direction. Below and attached are the adopted Flagstaff City Council goals and the goals are also posted online at www.flagstaff.az.gov/citycouncil.
Grow and strengthen a more equitable and resilient economy.
Support development and increase the inventory of public and private affordable housing for renters and home owners throughout the community.
Advance social justice in our community.
TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE
Deliver quality community assets and continue to advocate and implement a highly performing multi-modal transportation system.
BUILDING AND ZONING/REGIONAL PLAN
Revise the zoning code to remove ambiguities, and ensure it is consistent with community values and the regional plan.
Take meaningful climate change action.
Become a national leader in water conservation in all sectors.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURAL RESOURCES
Actively manage and protect all environmental and natural resources.
Attract and retain quality staff.
Enhance public transparency and accessibility.
TOWN & GOWN
Enhance relationships between the City and institutions of higher education.
Achieve comprehensive and equitable code compliance.
