Farewell Andrew Breitbart Viewed 90,592 times

I am heart sick having heard the news of Andrew Breitbart's passing. We have all lost a very dear friend, a friend who fought the hard fight for liberty. His passing has touched many of us personally his fierce love of liberty and his uncompromising stalwart stand for liberty's principles. He was a man of great strength in a time when men, especially from Hollywood, are shown to be weak and of little character. Andrew shed light where there was none, spread a message that we are free people and boldly cast off chains of government that hold many weaker than he down. I weep for his loss, I struggle to understand his untimely demise and I pray his family strength.
Andrew was a loving husband and father of four who, as a consequence of his work, often away from home on a mission to wake America up, to show us that the path we are taking as a nation is the wrong one. His personal sacrifice was great, but his family's was greater. They missed the vacations most families enjoy so that Andrew could hold the mantle of liberty a bit higher for everyone to see. They missed the moments many of us take for granted. I contacted Andrew to speak at the Idaho Liberty Summit last summer about this time of year he considered that it might be a good time to spend some time with his children in the wilds of Idaho. It would be a business trip but also a time to enjoy his children and live a little bit away from the fast pace that was tapping his energy.
Andrew's rise to fame increased as summer approached as his high profile case against Representative Anthony Weiner of New York made national headlines. He was always pressed for time, flying here, speaking there,on a fast pace all the time. His short respite in Challis would be a drink of fresh cool water away from the hot action of national news and talk radio shows. He brought two of his four children with him for some richly deserved father time. Thank God.
My wife met Andrew and family at the Sun Valley airport and from that minute a great friendship began. They were all giddy kids on a ride up Trail Creek road looking down the great precipice that drops off the edge of the road to the valley floor below. They couldn't believe cows still roamed the open range as many stood unconcerned about the car traveling by in the middle of the road. It was a vacation to a time lost long ago to super highways and shopping malls from their Los Angeles perspective. Living Water's Ranch was an oasis of beautifully cut grass, blooming flowers and the babbling Garden Creek that bisects the sanctuary. It would be home for the few days they had as our guests. The Idaho Liberty Summit was an unexpected and far reaching success much as consequence for the appeal of Andrew's charm and straight forward defense of Constitutional liberty for all. Andrew's long time friend Dirk Benedict, better know as Face on the TV series "The A-Team", drove from his home in Montana to visit, he showed just as Andrew was ready to speak. Andrew was truly having a good time and so were his children. An auction of donated items followed Andrew's address in which a very nice mink scarf was won by one of the gentlemen in the crowd. He kindly gave it to Andrew's daughter, she proudly wore it and was thrilled to have it. Bless you.
On Sunday while many of us from the Liberty Summit took a field trip to the Yankee Fork, my wife had arranged a float trip from Sunbeam to the take out at Torrey's for Andrew and family. Our two boys accompanied the expedition down the river. There are moments in life that can not be properly described, this was one of them, only the photos reveal some of the joy. As most of us gathered at our cabin porch for lunch after the trip to the top of Estes Mountain, my wife took Andrew and kids up Montana Gulch on 4-Wheeler's to shoot the .22. Andrew was like a 15 year old, full of life and spirit, having fun like nothing ever before. Zipping around on the 4-Wheeler was fun, but nothing like shooting a can as it bobbed down the mountain stream with the semi-automatic .22. Andrew really lived that day, the day was just too short. He and family were off to the Sun Valley airport back to the fast pace, the battles to be fought and the liberties to be won.
Life is short, it comes and then it goes and no one knows their time. We have all been made better by Andrew's work, his efforts to shine a light in a dark world. I feel good to know in some small part that we made Andrew's life better for the short time we had with him and his children in the wonderful wilds of our Idaho home. Take a moment to enjoy life, take the time to love your spouse and your children, make friends and let liberty live in your heart. We will miss you Andrew.
