At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, the young man who was barricaded inside his family home surrendered to police ending a nearly seven hour ordeal for the family.
There is no word at this time about the reason for the standoff, but family members were worried that the twenty-three year old man was suicidal and was a danger to himself.
During the afternoon, nearby neighbors were evacuated from their homes for safety reasons. There were shots heard from inside the home, but it was later learned that the young man was trying to shoot open the lock on a gun safe.
The unnamed young man was taken to the hospital to be checked out due to some shrapnel and debris from trying to shoot the lock on the gun safe.
No further information is available at this time.
