Four Ways to Benefit from Using Area-Info.net Viewed 78,048 times

I have been developing Area-Info.net for more than three years. Because of this, I understand the value of Area-Info.net and sometimes take short cuts in explaining it to friends. What my explanation has boiled down to is this: It is an online newspaper with user-generated information.

I want to give you three easy things to do to benefit fully from the use of Area-Info.net. The steps are easy and I believe will make your experience better and easier in the future.

Step #1 – Register as a contributor

This step is as quick as entering your name, email (for login) and a password. This is the only step that is necessary to add events to the calendar, or share a story and receive updates of new articles and events. However, you will want to do step #2 to achieve full effectiveness.

Step #2 – Complete your “bio”

If you choose the “myaccount”, you will have an option to edit your name, address and bio. Your bio is a short description (up to 1,000 characters) to describe yourself. This might include your likes, your occupation, your skills, etc. You can also include a way for people to contact you, either through your website, a phone number, or an email. This is your choice. Personally, I would probably include my website.

When you have written your bio, it will automatically be added to the end of any article you share. By including a link to your website, you are also creating “back links” to your website each time you submit an article.

Step #3 – Add your avatar

An avatar is essentially a small picture to show who you are. Most people will put a small picture of themselves. However, you might change your picture from time to time to fit your mood. The important part is that the avatar puts a face/personality with the article. People who read the stories love to see who is sharing the story.
When you have done these three steps, you will save time whenever you add an event to the calendar, or share a story on Area-Info.net.

Step #4 – Share a Story

What is it you love? From Sports to Government; Entertainment to Business; Technology to Community; Travel to Restaurants; whatever you love. Share anything from the local Easter Egg Hunt to the Space Shuttle launch, or even a world disaster … “You Write the News.”

People are looking for news and information all of the time. More often than not, they want to know what is going on in their own community or, communities where family members live. Share the news with people around you. If you think it is news, it probably is. Share it.

Good luck and I hope to be reading your stories on Area-Info.net.
